Our Technology

Area CCD Sensor with Full Frame Output

The DiMAC utilizes area CCD sensors to produce complete frame output that is geometrically accurate under all flight conditions due to the CCDs inherent X-Y geometry. Operation of the camera during flight as well as post-processing is straightforward, being similar to the existing film-based workflow. Imagery can be previewed in real time during flight because the complete frame is being acquired. Frame-based imagery from the DiMAC can be directly implemented into existing digital environments, resulting in significant productivity gains compared to film imagery.

True Color Imaging

Color imagery is acquired directly during data capture through the use of Bayer color CCD technology. Each pixel gets its own color without the need to merge pixel data from different monochrome and color sensors. Rich coloration is captured in 16 bits per color channel resulting in optimal balancing and correction during post-processing. Imagery provides clear visibility of features in both heavy shadows and highly exposed bright areas.

Modular and Adaptable Design

The DiMAC architecture consists of modular units that incorporate best of class components from leading manufacturers combined with patented photogrammetric technology. Each individual DiMAC camera module can be configured with a variety of lenses according to the specific requirements of a given project. The system can be operated with a combination of 1, 2, 3 or 4 distinct camera modules to produce the desired ground coverage and output. Both color and infrared imagery can simultaneously be acquired.

Unleashing Creativity: A Comprehensive Guide to Modular Cameras

Guide to Modular Cameras

In the dynamic world of photography, innovation never ceases. Modular cameras represent the latest frontier, offering photographers unprecedented flexibility, versatility, and creative potential. In this guide, we delve into the revolutionary realm of modular cameras, exploring their features, benefits, and the transformative impact they can have on photography enthusiasts and professionals alike.

Understanding Modular Cameras

Modular cameras redefine the traditional concept of photography gear by breaking it down into modular components that can be customized and interchanged to suit individual preferences and shooting needs. These components typically include the camera body, lens mount, sensor, viewfinder, and various accessories such as grips, controls, and external modules for connectivity and expansion.

Flexibility and Versatility

One of the key advantages of modular cameras is their unparalleled flexibility and versatility. Photographers can mix and match components to create bespoke camera setups tailored to specific genres, styles, or shooting scenarios. Whether capturing landscapes, portraits, wildlife, or action, modular cameras empower photographers to adapt quickly and effortlessly to changing conditions, maximizing their creative potential.

Upgradability and Future-Proofing

Upgradability and Future-Proofing

Modular cameras offer inherent upgradability, allowing photographers to easily swap out outdated or underperforming components for newer, more advanced ones as technology evolves. This not only extends the lifespan of the camera system but also ensures that photographers stay at the cutting edge of innovation without having to invest in an entirely new camera setup every few years. In a rapidly evolving industry, this level of future-proofing is invaluable.

Customization and Personalization

Another compelling aspect of modular cameras is the ability to customize and personalize the camera system according to individual preferences and shooting styles. From selecting the perfect sensor size and resolution to choosing specialized lenses and accessories, photographers have unprecedented control over every aspect of their gear. This level of customization fosters a deeper connection between the photographer and their equipment, enhancing creativity and expression.

Portability and Compactness

Contrary to conventional wisdom, modular cameras can also offer exceptional portability and compactness, especially when compared to traditional DSLR or mirrorless camera systems. By eliminating unnecessary bulk and streamlining the design, modular cameras are often more lightweight and ergonomic, making them ideal companions for travel, outdoor adventures, and on-the-go shooting.

Community and Collaboration

The modular camera ecosystem is not just about individual photographers but also about fostering a vibrant community of enthusiasts, developers, and manufacturers. This collaborative spirit encourages innovation, experimentation, and knowledge sharing, ultimately benefiting the entire photography community. From open-source hardware projects to online forums and social media groups, modular camera enthusiasts have a wealth of resources at their disposal.

Conclusion

In conclusion, modular cameras represent a bold new frontier in the world of photography, offering unparalleled flexibility, versatility, and creative potential. Whether you’re a seasoned professional looking to push the boundaries of your craft or an amateur enthusiast eager to explore new horizons, modular cameras have something to offer for everyone. As technology continues to evolve and the modular camera ecosystem expands, the possibilities for innovation and expression are truly limitless. Embrace the future of photography with modular cameras and unleash your creativity like never before.
